Julienne Vegetable Peeler / Cutter / Slicer / Shredder by RAAYA
Most people would purchase a julienne vegetable peeler to…well… peel vegetables. I love DIY beauty so much that I’m constantly on the look out for tools that will help the process of making homemade goods easier.
The Julienne vegetable peeler is a high quality, ultra sharp, and stainless steel tool for the kitchen. It comes with four interchangeable blades and a handy cleaning brush.
I found it very easy to clean by hand, but if you choose, it easy dishwasher safe.
You get four functions in one tool. It takes only seconds to switch from one blade to another. It can slice, peel, cut, and shred your fruits, vegetables, cheeses, and yes… beeswax.
If you are a pro in the kitchen, you will get the hang of this peeler at the start of your first use. If you are more of a novice like me, it may take a few minutes to figure out which blade performs which function.
My only recommendation for this product is to include a short description of each blade.
This 4-in-1 peeler makes quick work of prepping vegetables for the week. Spending a lot of time cutting and slicing fruits and vegetables can be a turn off for healthy eating.
But you do not have to resort to canned or frozen vegetables. I peeled and sliced a large cucumber in a couple of minutes. You can quickly have fresh vegetables chopped and ready for cooking in minutes. No more excuses. 😉
Since this peeler comes with four blades, I decided to reserve one blade for grating beeswax and butters (shea, cocoa, etc.). When I am not in the kitchen cooking food, I am whipping up hair and skin goodies!one ounce bars of beeswax
Beeswax is a constant ingredient in several of my homemade beauty recipes. I use beeswax in lotion bars, lip balms, and whipped butters.
You can purchase beeswax in pellets but sometimes it is cheaper to buy them in bars. The challenge? Well the beeswax bars like the ones pictured left, can take a bit of time to melt down.
Grating a bar of beeswax down to shavings helps to melt the wax quickly. The second challenge is that beeswax bars are usually extremely hard. So I was impressed that this tool did a fair job shaving my beeswax bar down to size. The handle is sturdy and the peeler is easy to manipulate. It was not quick work with the beeswax, but it was still easier to shave down what I needed and melt it in my double boiler.
When I am making just a few mini bars, I use less than one ounce of beeswax. So I can shave off what I need and reserve the rest of the bar.
Needless to say I will be using this peeler every time I am in the kitchen, for one purpose or another. The julienne vegetable peeler can handle large vegetables but it is small enough to store anywhere.
Just one warning, be careful if allowing children to use it. The blades are very sharp.
